Help with applying

How to apply
Capital Community Foundation provides grants to non-profit groups that are for community benefit. You do not need to be a registered charity. We offer a number of grant programmes which cover different areas and type of activity. See the grants section for details.

Because we offer funds on behalf of different donors, you may apply to each and every programme for which your group is eligible. However, the criteria do vary for each grant programme, so be sure to read the guidance carefully. Please call us before making an application if you are unsure.

If you have received a grant from Capital Community Foundation before (or S E London Community Foundation / SELF) you must complete any outstanding monitoring before you submit a new application.

To apply for a grant from CCF your group must have:

  1. A management committee of at least 3 people who are not related and are not paid wages by your group. Follow this link for further details.
  2. A governing document (e.g. constitution or Memorandum & Articles of Association). Follow this link for further details of what this should contain.
  3. A bank account with at least 2 unrelated signatories for transactions. (Please note that we cannot accept Pass Book accounts or those which permit only cash withdrawals).
  4. A child protection policy and procedures if you will be working with children. Follow this link for details on what this should contain.

Here are some tips, based on the most common pitfalls:

  1. Check the criteria! Some of our grant programmes have income thresholds, and only smaller groups may apply. These are strictly adhered to. If in doubt, give us a call!
  2. Give up to date contact details. Remember to let us know if you move or the contact person for your grant changes.
  3. Include a breakdown of the budget. This can help to speed up the assessment of your application, and help us to assess value for money. Ensure that quotes are attached where appropriate, and salaries, session fees, rent or expenses are broken down to show how the total has been calculated.
  4. Brief your referee! We always contact your referee, so make sure you have their permission, and that they understand and are supportive of your proposal.

For further information, see the training pages and feel free to call the Grant Team if you have any questions.
