Southwark occupies a special place in the jigsaw of South London.

For a number of years now SELF has supported the tireless work of small community and voluntary groups in Southwark through various grant schemes.

In particular, the Neighbourhood Renewal Community Chest, available throughout the borough, provides a very real way for small groups of people to do great things for the local community, from film-making workshops for young people in Camberwell through to line dancing and fitness classes for senior ladies in Bermondsey. In recognition of the importance of such community activities in Southwark, the Southwark Alliance generously adds to the value of the Community Chest for Southwark. Grants of up to £10,000 are therefore available.

You may wish to look at the list of grants recently awarded for a further flavour of the sheer variety of activities going on in the borough. We’re sure you’ll agree that there’s a wonderful mix of grant-funded voluntary projects going on across Southwark. If you have an idea for a project, and you’re interested in how this might fit into Neighbourhood Renewal, please contact the Grants Officer for the fund.
